Privacy Policy
Effective May 22, 2026
Overview
Scanster is a document scanner that turns photos of paper into PDFs entirely on your device. We do not run servers that hold your data. We do not have user accounts. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Data Collection
Scanster does not:
- Collect personal information
- Track behavior or usage analytics
- Send your documents to any external service
- Require an account or registration
- Bundle any third-party analytics, advertising, or attribution SDKs
Data Storage
All scanned documents are:
- Stored locally on your device, inside the Scanster app's sandbox
- Never uploaded to cloud services
- Never transmitted over the internet
- Removed when you delete the app
If you choose to share a PDF (Mail, Messages, AirDrop, Files, etc.), that copy is sent through the app you pick. Scanster has no visibility into where your sharing destinations route it after that.
Permissions
Camera Access — required to scan documents. Used only while the scanner is open. Frames are processed on-device and discarded after capture; no video stream is recorded or transmitted.
In-App Purchases
Scanster offers one optional one-time purchase: Remove Watermark ($3.99 CAD). Purchases are processed by the App Store. Apple receives transaction information per their own privacy policy; Scanster only sees the unlock state for your Apple ID on this device. No payment information is collected, stored, or transmitted by the app.
You can restore the purchase on any device signed into the same Apple ID from Settings → Restore Purchase.
Data Sharing
Scanster does not share data because Scanster does not collect data.
Children's Privacy
Scanster is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in app updates with clear notice in the release notes.
